I just tried the mod store after updating and it connects fine. Skyrim version is 1.0.0.11. But it's not doing this with Fallout 4 and those are Bethesda servers too. On the Bethesda forum one poster says he got this stuff after the update. So there's a chance I have the update already and it messed this up.
