The 601 has a modern style loader (top bars only come back to the dash) with a bigger bucket, live PTO and supposedly more power. By the way, it's a good idea to use 134 in the transmission and differential as well. In theory, gear oil from those reservoirs can get past the seals and contaminate the hydraulic fluid. Also, 134 in the trans will make cold weather shifting a little smoother. Hi jobe, originally the 601 series had a Proofmeter, an oil pressure, temp gauge a fuel gauge and a generator / alternator light, no ammeter, a temp gauge is definitely more important then an ammeter or if you prefer the ammeter then remove the fuel gauge.
