They shoot most accuretly if the clearance is .003 or less. That's a pretty snug fit and can be pretty hard to load in a fouled bore. The original Minie' bullet to bore fit could be all over the map and it was usually rather loose so accuracy suffered and for the most part the military didn't care.

With the older eyes I changed the iron sights on the Lyman Great Plains rifle to the Lyman fiber optic sights. The rear hi vis green are ok but the front red is no better than the old iron sight. It is nice and small and reasonably easy to make. The pattern is drawn on 1" squares. The area above the "dot-dash" to the "dash-dash" can be used in one of two ways. 1) folded under and sewn or 2) separate piece from thinner leather and folded as an edging as can be seen in the first photo.

Mar 9, 2010. #20. You know all ML shooters have thier own priorities. I would never build or request a flintlock rifle with a patent breech. When I dump a load of powder in the barrel I want it to flow directly to the touch hole. IMHO the modern patent breech does not allow that as well as a normal breech. Salt. 1.

Shoot loose is the term for the frame lengthening in the thin area above the cylinder when speaking of a Remington style gun. For a Colt style it means the cylinder pin that holds the barrel to the frame tends to pull out of the rear frame with heavy loads. Dixie Gun recommends the following loads for the .36 cal:1. Jan 19, 2009. #2. While the patent breech is an old design, the hook-breech is not. Today the hook-breech is used mainly on halfstock rifles and shotguns so the barrels can be quickly removed. When you have a fullstock rifle there will be very few times when you want to remove the barrel.May 14, 2014. #12. The Italian guns are, in general, very good quality; more-so than the Spanish creations. The barrels, though, on both are as about as good as they get on a factory gun. The weak link seems to be the flint locks they come with (both makers). they are mostly good/very good but are often very, very bad.Need a voiceover studio in Canada? Perdisoli is great but less then correct. A loyalist arms bess from India will spark as well as my custum lock, at least mine does. They offer more models and are as close to original as Perdisoli. The wood is not walnut.

I use the rear tang screw and if needed, drill and tap a new whole in the tang. Some of the TC rifle and some of the Pedersoli's come with a hole already there, but of not, do not panic, it's an easy 5 minute job to drill and tap a 6/32 or 8/32 hole. That is the recommended setup for a set trigger but if you want to adjust it so the front trigger needs to move more, unscrew the screw further. For just the lock, I haven't found detailed instructions anywhere. Most of it seems pretty straightforward, except for the serpentine. I was considering using a blow torch to bend it in shape, heat the head, and then hit it mostly flat with a big ball peen hammer to try and make the match holder.261. Location. Colorado. To get that grey look you have two options. 1) start with the barrel back "in the white" and in about 150 to 200 years it will have that nice grey look if you occasionally oil the barrel. 2) put a single application of cold blue on it. That will expedite the process by about 10X.Jan 9, 2022. #2. 1075 = 10 3/4. Intermediate cap size so it is good for both 10 and 11 nipples. A little hotter than CCI. Good all-around cap. Reducing width by 25% reduces spring strength by 25%. Thinning by narrowing reduces strength proportionally. Thinning reduces strength relative to the square of the thickness. 3/4 times 3/4 = 9/16. 4/4 times 4/4 =16/16 or one (unchanged). 16/16 minus 9/16 = 7/16 loss or 43% loss.Clay Smith kits | The Muzzleloading Forum. Nitric acid is technically aquafortis, for sure, but the solution folks use to stain rifles is saturated with iron. Make the 10% or up to 25% solution, add iron shavings or small nails, let it cook uncovered until it is done consuming iron. Filter through a coffee filter, etc, and use this to stain maple.
